Splinter Contemporary Artists’ new exhibition, Art Squared, will be on show at the Kyabram Town Hall Gallery from November 6 to Feb 5.

Art Squared features works that are dynamic in terms of the use of various materials, methods, concepts and subjects, but unified by a common size - 60x60cm.

The Goulburn Valley based contemporary art group decided to impose this size restriction in order to stimulate creative juices and force members to think outside the square.

Amanda Hocking, mixed media artist and exhibition curator, commented, ‘Having endless options to choose from can in itself be overwhelming and actually stifle creativity. Therefore by setting parameters for ourselves we can start thinking creatively without getting lost in the wilderness of possibilities.’

‘Personally, I strongly dislike working inside a square. Both physically and metaphorically! However, feeling uncomfortable is the sign that you are pushing boundaries and that is what contemporary artists do.’

Splinter Artists invite you to enjoy this latest and diverse exhibition on show 10am to 4pm Monday to Saturday.

Kyabram Town Hall Gallery is located at 199 Allan Street, Kyabram.
